DR.A.HEYER

SPECIALITY:

Dr Adele Heyer enjoys treating a range of common childhood illnesses, enjoys looking after children with complex and special needs, children with neurological or neuro developmental and behavioural difficulties.

SPECIAL INTERESTS:

She is also passionate about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity to maintain mental and physical wellbeing. Given her previous experience as a GP in Townsville, she understands the impact illness can have on family life and the importance of holistic care when providing healthcare for children.

BIOGRAPHY:

Dr Adele Heyer is a general paediatrician. She obtained her primary medical degree and initial specialist degree in Family Medicine in South Africa. She moved to Townsville in 2006, initially working in general practice, before completing her paediatric training at the Townsville hospital.

Outside of work, she is the mother of two beautiful daughters. Her husband is also in the medical field, working as a GP. The family enjoys an active, outdoors lifestyle and can often be seen attending many of the Townsville sport and community activities.

Dr.S.SIVA

SPECIALITY:

Dr. Siva is an experienced paediatric practitioner with a dual speciality in General Paediatrics and Neonatology who works as a staff specialist at The Townsville Hospital. With extensive clinical experience in a range of general paediatric conditions, behavioural-developmental paediatrics and neonatology, his incredible passion for holistic child health motivated him to start Townsville Paediatrics in 2017.

SPECIAL INTERESTS:

Dr. S. Siva specialises in newborn care, prematurity, growth and development and behavioural paediatrics. He believes in maximising physical health, emotional wellbeing, and developmental potential of each child through partnerships with parents, caregivers, allied health professionals, educators, GPs and paediatric sub-specialists.
BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. S. Siva’s primary medical degree is from Tanjore Medical College, India, a premier institute in South India. He also holds a Diploma in Child Health and Post Graduate degree in Paediatrics from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He attained dual fellowship in Neonatology and Paediatrics from Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and was trained at Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, Royal Children Hospital, Brisbane and The Townsville Hospital. He has more than 15 years of clinical experience in neonatology and paediatrics. He has worked at various teaching hospitals in India, Sri Lanka and Australia.

DR.B.WAMOLA

SPECIALITY:

Her special interest is in paediatric infectious disease and Developmental Paediatrics.

BIOGRAPHY:

Dr Wamola a fully qualified and accredited Paediatrician has started a private practice at Townsville Paediatrics Pty Ltd. and Mater Private Hospital, Townsville.

Dr Wamola completed undergraduate medical degree at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She completed her postgraduate training in Paediatrics in the United Kingdom at Alder Hey Children’s hospital in Liverpool. She worked as a consultant Paediatrician in North West England for two years before moving to Australia in 2015.

She has worked at Townsville Hospital in both Acute and Community Paediatrics. She has over 18 years of experience in General Paediatrics in both the United Kingdom and Australia.

DR.J.KRISHNAN

SPECIALITY:

Dr Janani Krishnan is a specialist Paediatric Surgeon and Paediatric Urologist consulting from Townsville Paediatrics and operating at Mater Private Hospital Townsville.

SPECIAL INTERESTS:

Her areas of interest and expertise are paediatric neonatal and general surgery apart from specialty focused training in paediatric urology.

BIOGRAPHY:

Dr Krishnan is an Australian qualified Paediatric Surgeon. She has completed extensive training in paediatric surgery and paediatric urology internationally and at high volume centres. Her areas of interest and expertise are paediatric neonatal and general surgery apart from specialty focused training in paediatric urology. Her practice philosophy is centered around delivering a high quality of care to her patients and their families with dedication and compassion.

Dr Krishnan completed her specialist paediatric surgical training from a high volume children’s hospital in Mumbai, India. On completion of training, she was awarded the Gold Medal in Paediatric Surgery by the Vice President of India. Dr Krishnan and her family moved to Australia and spent 5 years in Children’s hospitals across Sydney and Melbourne prior to obtaining the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
She is working as a staff specialist in paediatric surgery at Townsville university Hospital.

Dr Krishnan currently has availability for consults and operations so is able to offer expedited surgery with high quality care for children who require paediatric surgical and urological services.

Erin Porrett

Specialty:

Erin is an Accredited Mental Health Occupational Therapist (OT) with a passion for working with young people and their families. Erin utilises a broad range of interventions to suit each individual and their presenting concerns. She brings the knowledge of both OT and Psychotherapy together to provide holistic care to those she works with.

Special interests:

Erin enjoys working with a range of presentations including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders, trauma, and self-harm/suicidal behaviour. Erin has done further training in the treatment of trauma and eating disorders as well as suicide prevention.

Biography:

Erin graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at James Cook University in 2015 and went on to study her Master of Mental Health at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2019. Erin is registered with AHPRA and holds a membership with Occupational Therapy Australia. As a mental health OT, Erin is eligible to work under the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative which attracts a Medicare rebate. Occupational Therapy is also claimable through most Private Health Insurance companies.

When not at work, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter. She loves animals, being outdoors and going on adventures!
